Wait a minute…

I woke this morning to learn of children’s author Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s death. I didn’t know her, but I know her work and I’ve read of her love of life and the small moments that make life worth living. In honor of her, here are some of the small moments of my day.

Morning snuggles with my granddaughter who, unfortunately, has already learned the “cheese” grimace that is prompted by the word “smile.”

A quiet moment when big brother finds a Zool Babies video on the Wii.

An overnight trip to downtown OKC with my grandson including water tag in the hotel pool and dinner out.

“Lemons just make things fancy.” Says this boy who has my daughter’s face but his dad’s eyebrows that seem to reach for the sky.

After dinner mini golf.  Played at lightning speed with major field hockey moves.

Marble Slab Creamery.  Cool mint with gummy bears…I don’t even want to think about it.

“Even if you gave me chocolate cake, I couldn’t eat it.”   I guess that means he’s full!

My hotel key and the message for the day:

  1. I was sidetracked and had to read all about Amy Krouse Rosenthal. I didn’t realize, so thank you for that message. It looks like your day was full of small moments! I wish I could have played that speedy round of mini golf with you. 🙂 I wish you many more small moments like these.

  2. Went to read Amy’s obituary and letter that was published in the New York times. Wow! Made me realize how much I love the little celebrations in my life! AND I love seeing your little celebrations! I am so thankful that you feel better and are able to have fun times with your Grands! Enjoy each moment!
